About this artwork

A school of koi in orange, gold, red and white circles through a bright blue pond, between round green lily pads and pink water lilies. Small painted ripples follow them, so the water seems to move.

This piece steps away from strict mandala geometry into a freer painted scene. Seen from above, the koi swim in loose circles around the middle of the sheet, with lily pads gathered at the corners and pink water lilies opening between them. Ripples drawn as little spirals keep the surface alive, and the fish curve in different directions, as if caught mid-turn.

Koi are admired across Asia as symbols of perseverance and good fortune, and in India a pair of fish is one of the ashtamangala, the eight auspicious symbols. Water lilies bring the same note of calm that the lotus carries. The title adds 'me' to the pond, an invitation to stand at the edge and watch, and that is what the painting does best: it offers a slow, restful view. It is a bright, friendly choice for family spaces and children's rooms.
