About this artwork

A ring of interlaced royal-blue knots holds an inner garden of aqua and white petals, with a small six-petal blue flower at the very centre. Outside the ring, layers of fan and petal motifs fade softly into white.

Bounded Inner Peace is about finding stillness inside a boundary rather than in spite of it. The knotwork band is the strongest element in the drawing, a deep blue loop of interwoven strands with no visible beginning, and it shelters everything inside it. Within, the patterns grow gentler, and the centre is just a simple flower.

Many mandalas, including those used in Indian and Tibetan practice, are built as enclosures: an outer wall protecting a sacred inner space. Anusuya keeps that idea but in a soft palette of royal blue, aqua and white, colours long linked with calm and depth. The finer petal rings outside the knot and the denser ones inside create a feeling of moving inward, which is exactly where the title asks the eye to go. The piece is intended to bring calm, and it is one of the most restful in the collection.
