About this artwork

A finely gridded ring of red and maroon diamonds surrounds a band of white flowers on blue, then pink-violet petals and a small glowing orange centre. The pointed outer edge is black, with white paisleys tucked into each point.

The grids in the title are visible in the outer rings, where Anusuya cross-hatches the paper into tiny diamonds and fills them in red, maroon and white. Moving inward, the grid gives way to softer forms: white flowers on a blue ground, then a ring of pink and violet petals, and finally an orange centre ringed in green dots, like a star seen through a telescope.

Mandalas have always been maps of the cosmos as much as of the self, with the centre standing for the source and the rings for the layers of creation around it. This piece holds both readings at once: precise, almost mathematical outer rings and a warm, living core. Anusuya describes it as a meditation on universal harmony for anyone who loves science, spirituality or both. Its mix of red, blue and orange gives it real presence on a wall.

Questions about this piece

How much detail is in the drawing?

A great deal. The outer rings are cross-hatched into tiny diamonds, and every ring has its own motif, so the piece rewards a close look as much as a view from across the room.

How big is the framed artwork?

The artwork is on A3 paper (29.7 × 42 cm). It ships in a black wood frame with a glass front and a white mat, about 40 × 53 cm overall, ready to hang.
