A vibrant cosmic iris gazes outward from the heart of this mandala, reflecting the universe’s ever-watchful, conscious presence. It invites deep contemplation, curiosity, and a sense of connection with the infinite.
Vivid Iris of the Universe at its true framed size, about 40 × 53 cm, in four interiors.
Rings of tiny diamond tiles move through the whole spectrum, from a black-and-gold chequered rim through magenta, blue, red, orange and green to a burst of yellow rays, closing on a black pupil with a gold centre.
The likeness to an eye is deliberate. The yellow and green spokes behave like the fibres of an iris, the black ring like a pupil, and the outer rings of colour like the universe reflected in it. Each ring is made of small diamond-shaped cells coloured one by one, so the circle seems to shimmer as the colours shift. The gold at the very centre carries a tiny flower pattern, a small reward for anyone who looks closely.
In Indian tradition the eye carries great weight; the third eye of Shiva stands for inner vision and awareness. This piece borrows that sense of a conscious, watchful presence and pairs it with the precision of a mandala. Saturated and glowing, it is one of the most eye-catching pieces in the collection and deserves a wall of its own, where it can invite curiosity and contemplation.
Yes. The small centre and the chequered outer rim use metallic gold. In the replica, a giclée/inkjet print on A3 art paper, the gold is reproduced as printed colour.
The original is the one-of-one drawing, hand-drawn on A3 paper and signed by Anusuya R. The replica is a giclée/inkjet print on A3 art paper. Both arrive in the same black wood frame with glass and a white mat.
