About this artwork

Pink lotuses at every stage, from tight bud to full bloom, rise on slender stems among broad, ribbed green leaves and seed pods. Painted on a plain white ground, the flowers have room to breathe.

Unlike most pieces in the collection, this one is not built as a mandala. It is a botanical painting of a lotus plant in full season, with blooms facing in different directions, buds still closed and seed pods already forming. That mix is the idea behind the title: on a single plant, something is always opening while something else is ripening, so the blossoming never really ends.

The lotus is India's national flower and one of its most sacred, associated with purity because it rises unstained from muddy water. Anusuya paints the petals with deep pink tips fading to white and gives the leaves visible ribbing in layered greens. The result is fresh and calm. It pairs naturally with the lotus mandalas in the collection if you want to group pieces together, and it works just as well alone on a light wall.

Questions about this piece

Which wall suits this lotus painting?

Its white background and soft pink-and-green palette suit light walls. It works well in a pooja room, bedroom or living room, and beside the lotus mandalas in the collection.

What is the difference between the original and the replica?

The original is the one-of-one drawing, hand-drawn on A3 paper and signed by Anusuya R. The replica is a giclée/inkjet print on A3 art paper. Both arrive in the same black wood frame with glass and a white mat.
