Organic petal shapes emerge from structured cube patterns in this mandala, symbolizing the dance between form and flow, nature and design. It invites contemplation on the origins of creation, perfect for modern interiors seeking a touch of spiritual artistry.
Petals of Origin Cube at its true framed size, about 40 × 53 cm, in four interiors.
At the centre, a cube drawn in red-and-white stripes and outlined in gold sits inside a ring of white fan flowers on yellow, then bands of green, blue and magenta patterned with white petals and paisleys.
The title imagines the cube as an origin, a solid, constructed form from which organic petals grow outward. Anusuya draws it as three visible faces striped in red and white, so it seems to pop forward like a 3D object, and edges it in gold. Around it, the petals and fans become softer and more flowing with every ring, moving from form to flow.
Many traditional mandalas combine a square, often read as the earth, with a circle, read as the infinite. This piece plays with that idea: a hard-edged cube at the heart, then a round bed of white flowers, then serrated green and blue rings and a broad magenta border full of curling motifs. The palette is bright and festive without becoming chaotic, and it looks particularly good in modern interiors with clean lines and simple furniture.
It is an optical effect. The cube is drawn flat, but its three faces are striped in different directions and outlined in gold, so it appears to stand out from the page.
